Hollister Nov 04

Did a quick run in November 04 with some of the T4R guys. I believe it was the first T4R off road meet. So take a bow guys!! Photos below and videos here. As usual high quality (70MB) and low quality (7MB), same content.

It was only 3 of us, Ryan, Henry(i?) and myself. Henry drove in from LA, so he was really committed. Ryan and I met at the Ranger station, and went to the obstacle course. We played around for a while, and decided to go look for some mud below the obstacle course. While playing there Henry caught up with us. We tested out different things and had some good fun all round. Unfortunately it was still early in the rain season, so no real mud at Hollister yet. Ryan was attempting a difficult mud hole, but decided to to stop. Probably a good decision as body damage might have occurred. He was however in a bad spot so I had to give him a yank to get out.

After that we quickly went back to the obstacle course and did the stair steps. There was a bunch of TTORA guys, so we left the one obstacle for later. This turned out to be interesting at the end of the day.

We then left to go play at the quarry and get some pics. Just some good all round fun. Ryan almost found new ways to meet gravity, while going down an obstacle. Fortunately nothing happened.

Hechtor heights was next on the list. We headed up there without incident. It was not to difficult since the ground was still firm and not muddy. Again we ran into the TTORA guys. We had a quick lunch and decided to head to truck hill for some fun.

When we got to truck hill an old Dodge pickup almost rolled down. It popped the steering and the front tire on the way down, fortunately they didn’t roll. As we waited for them to clear the Dodge, we played in a mud hole next to truck hill. It was good fun and we really got dirty. Again the TTORA guys arrived. Ryan got stuck once as he attempted a deep crossing, a quick pull and he was out. After playing some more the Dodge was cleared and we did truck hill. Henry decided he will wait for another day.

We eventually ended back at the obstacle course after going through some trails. The hole looked a bit intimidating with water in it and we decided to pass on our way to the obstacle course. Finally I attempted the obstacle route we previously decided not to wait for all the TTORA guys. Everything went well till I got high centered on a log after slipping off my line. As the 4R was stuck on the chassis, I wanted to get some rocks under the wheels before pulling it out. A guy high lifted the back, wish I already had my sliders (oh well). Steve arrived to see what was going on, his 4R is now running so hopefully he will join next time. On my way to get a large rock under my front wheel I slipped and fell on my ass (yes I left it in the video). A guy with a build up Toy pickup, eventually pulled me out. We played around some more and then headed home.

Thanx guys.
